NABA student members include college and graduate school students in more than 150 chapters (professional and student) across the country. Just like it’s important to have friends on campus, it’s highly rewarding and enriching to have a group of peers in the same major or related field as you.

You share experiences such as searching for jobs, passing classes, taking school or professional exams, and developing a network of friends and contacts that can help you get through the transition from college to professional life. As a NABA student member you also have the opportunity to attend the annual NABA Regional Student Conferences, where you will be able to network with your peers but also with professionals and leading companies in the accounting and finance fields.

NABA’s professional/student network is large and diverse. There are over 150 student/professional chapters across the country. The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP®)

The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP®) is a program for high school students (freshmen through seniors). It puts in the NABA pipeline to help build future Black Business Leaders, with a focus on directing them to majoring in accounting, finance and its related business fields, including entrepreneurship. It includes a one-week residency at a college or university, combined with year-round programming.

During a week-long summer campus residency program, a select group of students can explore careers in accounting, finance and business-related fields via a rigorous class and study schedule, college-level content, and valuable networking opportunities. ACAP® introduces underrepresented high school students to accounting, finance, economics, technology, and management while providing the foundation of financial literacy as well as the development of interpersonal skills. Prominent business leaders share their knowledge, provide tips for success, and discuss career opportunities.

Student’s experience accounting firsthand through tours of local certified public accounting firms and companies in the private sector. Students learn the value of collaboration and teamwork through the group project or case study initiative. The program concludes with a recognition luncheon or banquet for students, parents, speakers, and corporate partners

ACAP is a unique pipeline from high school to college, one that allows students to become prepared and informed about the expectations of college life and beyond. Through mentoring, we help them not only to matriculate to college but also teach them how to succeed in college through a mentoring initiative. The program is fully supervised and all-expenses-paid. Students selected will receive free tuition, room and board, books, materials, tools, NABA HS membership and mentoring.

Since its beginning in 1980, the program has served as a turning point in the academic lives of thousands of high school students, motivating them to pursue a higher education and developing their own unique paving and pathing to reach their maximum potential.
