Get ready to volunteer!

Be a part of NABA Cares during the National Convention this year in the great city of New Orleans!

In partnership with KPMG, convention goers will have the opportunity to team up and help the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter in multiple ways! The New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter is the largest sheltering organization dedicated to serving the most under-served and vulnerable population in Greater New Orleans: homeless families. The Shelter is dedicated not only to providing meals and housing, but also the development of all residents through various children’s programs, workforce development programs, financial literacy programs, and more. During the week, attendees are encouraged to visit the NABA Cares Station where they can write messages of encouragement, inspirational quotes, or curate art to fill in bookplates for the Shelters’ young readers and package back-to-school supplies for the children of the Shelter. The week will conclude with an opportunity to volunteer onsite at the Shelter assisting with various activities. Let’s show the city of New Orleans that NABA CARES!

We welcome you during this year’s NABA convention to sign up and volunteer!

Please note that the onsite activity at the Shelter is at an offsite location with limited slots, and you must be registered as a volunteer. All volunteers should be ready for departure no later than 8:00am. The bus will depart promptly at 8:30am and we will return to the hotel around noon. Please look out for email correspondence related to all volunteer activities.

  1. Bookplates:

Reading is my superpower! What better way to encourage our youth than to provide them with access to books? First Book gift certificates will be given to the Shelter to purchase books for the families of the Shelter. In addition, custom bookplates cobranded with NABA will be provided to our young readers.

Our ask is simple, we welcome you during this year’s NABA convention to visit our designated area to assist with offering words of encouragement, inspirational quotes, or curate art to fill in the bookplates that will be presented with the gift certificates to the families of the Shelter.

  2. Back-to-School:

Though school is out, it is never too early to start planning for the upcoming school year. Back-to-school supplies selected and pre-ordered from the Shelter’s Amazon Wishlist will be delivered to the children of the Shelter.

Our ask is simple, we welcome you during this year’s NABA convention to visit our designated area to assist with packaging bags with essential back-to-school supplies for the children. This will be a great opportunity to give back and support the education of our children in need.

  3. Onsite at the Shelter:

As the convention comes to an end, individuals will have the opportunity to volunteer onsite at the Shelter. From 9am – 12pm, volunteers can assist in building bookshelves, cleaning, and beautifying the facility. Can’t make it to the Shelter? Don’t worry! We will also need volunteers to help transport the bookplates and back-to-school bags created during the week from the NABA Cares Station to the bus.
